Cardio

Today I'm going to be telling you about the importance of cardio. For me cardio is a staple in all of my workout days. I'd recommend at least 20 minutes of cardio every workout. There are many different things you can do for cardio, it isn't just running. So lets get into a few different cardio exercises you can do.

One basic cardio exercise you can do is running.  Running is one of the greatest exercises you can do for your body. The entire body is moving and you really utilize a ton of your muscles. You can burn tons of calories, and it also keeps you healthy. Even just running a mile a day is enough to make a significant difference in your health.

For those who don't like running you can do other things. Another great cardio exercise is jumping rope. Jumping rope is one of the best things I started implementing into my workouts. It helps you with focusing by constantly having you keep your rhythm and form while jumping. It also will make you lighter and faster on your toes. This is why you see many boxers jumping rope, so that while they're physically conditioning their bodies, they're also training themselves to be lighter on their feet and more agile.

One last thing I'll recommend is swimming. Swimming in my opinion is the best cardio exercise, as far as movement and burning calories. It's also an intense difficult workout. I say this because you literally engage the entire body in swimming movements. Not to mention its very exhausting moving in water, so it's just added resistance to the bodies muscles, causing them to struggle and work a lot harder. A swimmers physique is an absolute wonder to me. It takes so much to compete in that sport and the toll on the body is incredible. That why an olympic swimmer like Michael Phelps's body requires 12,000 calories a day while training. So if you have a pool at your disposal I'd recommend using it here and there at your own pace.
These are just a few different exercises you can do for cardio. I'd recommend any of them. You could do tons of things for cardio. From a pick-up game of basketball to going out and dancing. Any physical activity that gets your heart racing and you sweating will do just fine. So just try to get that 20 minutes in every workout, and I promise you wont regret it. Be better than you were yesterday!
